Rahul Gandhi to Visit Kashmir Ahead of Assembly Elections

Srinagar, Aug 20, KNT: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, also the ‘Leader of the Opposition, is set to visit Kashmir for two days, marking his first visit since the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra.’ This visit comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, and Gandhi is expected to meet with J&K-based Congress leaders to assess the ground situation.

Gandhi’s visit is seen as a significant move, as he is likely to meet with top leaders from the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss a possible alliance before the elections. This visit is happening at the insistence of the newly appointed PCC Jammu Kashmir Chief, Tariq Hamid Karra, sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

Sources also suggest that several leaders from the Azad-led Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) are eager to rejoin the Congress. Gandhi will be taking suggestions from party leaders on this matter during his visit.
