Rajouri, Aug 5, KNT: Two firing incidents were reported in Jammu region during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, officials said.
They said Army troops fired warning shots after detecting suspicious movement of two groups of infiltrators along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor and Sunderbani sectors of Jammu.
In both these areas, a massive search operation is underway.
Reports said that the Army observed the movement of a group of individuals at around 1:30 am in the Battal sector of Akhnoor. The soldiers responded by illuminating the area with flares and deploying drones for surveillance. Reinforcements were quickly mobilized to establish a tight cordon around the area, and a search operation commenced at first light.
Simultaneously, troops in the Sunderbani-Nowshera sector of Rajouri district detected suspicious movement around 12:30 am and fired a few warning rounds. This area is also being combed as part of a broader effort to secure the LoC and prevent any possible infiltration. [KNT]
