Body of Missing TA Soldier Recovered in Anantnag Forests, Probe Underway

 

Anantnag, Oct 8, KNT: The body of Territorial Army Soldier Hilal Ahmad Bhat, who went missing on Tuesday evening, has been recovered from the Kokernag forest area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A massive search operation was launched by police and army forces after Bhat’s disappearance. According to a top police officer, “Today, during searches, his body was recovered.” Bhat, a resident of Mukhdampora Nowgam in Anantnag, was identified by authorities.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his death and disappearance. “The probe will focus on uncovering the events leading to Bhat’s disappearance, possible involvement of militant groups,” said the officer.

The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army had earlier tweeted about the joint operation in Kazwan Forest, Kokernag, which began shortly after the alleged abduction of the soldier. “A soldier of Territorial Army was reported missing, and a massive rescue and search operation is in progress,” army had said.
