Drug peddling: A non-local among trio arrested at two different locations in Srinagar

 

Srinagar, Nov 20, KNT: Srinagar Police have arrested three individuals, including a non-local resident, with significant quantities of heroin and brown sugar.

The latest arrests were made in the Soura and Rajbagh areas, where police intercepted two vehicles and recovered 4.92 grams of heroin, 4 grams of brown sugar, and Rs 6,930 in cash believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales.

One of the accused, Surinder Pal Saini, a resident of Punjab, was identified as a chronic drug peddler involved in selling drugs to youth in Srinagar. Saini was driving a vehicle with a Punjab registration number (PB53AM-7939) when he was intercepted by police on 90 Feet Road.

In another incident, police stopped a Scorpio vehicle (JK01AV-8300) in the Rajbagh area and arrested two individuals, Riyaz  Chana and Hamza Khan, residents of Haba Kadal and Rawalpora, respectively. A search of the vehicle yielded 4 grams of brown sugar and a digital Kanda.

These arrests as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust follow the recent detention of two drug suppliers from Delhi, Love Kumar and Vipin Kumar, who were found with over 2.4 kg of heroin near the Tengapora Bypass area of Srinagar.

The Srinagar Police have urged the public to report any drug-related activities or crimes to the nearest police station or dial 112. [KNT]
