Sopore Police cracks Hit-and-Run case, Arrests reckless driver

 

Baramulla, Nov 21, KNT: Sopore Police have solved a hit-and-run case that claimed the life of Dr. Azhar Hassan Janwari, a pedestrian from the Upper Ashpeer area of North Kashmir’s Sopore.

On November 5, 2024, an unknown motorcyclist struck Dr. Janwari, leaving him critically injured. Despite initial treatment at SDH Sopore and subsequent referral to SKIMS Soura, the victim succumbed to his injuries on November 18, 2024.

Police said that following an extensive investigation, including technical analysis, they identified Nadeem Hameed Badam from Upper Ashpeer, Sopore, as the accused.

“Badam confessed to recklessly riding his Scooty (JK05H-4292) on the day of the incident and fleeing the scene in fear of consequences. He has been arrested, and his vehicle has been seized,” said the police.

The police have added Section 106(2) to the case, considering the victim’s death. [KNT]
