Deputy CM Urges Pakistan to End Militancy, Says Cross-Border Conspiracies Taking Lives

Jammu, Mar 29, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Saturday condemned cross-border conspiracies, stating that they are responsible for the loss of young lives in the region. He urged Pakistan to abandon its support for militancy, emphasizing that violence has yielded nothing over the past three decades.

Speaking to reporters after the wreath-laying ceremony of Head Constable Jagbir Singh at the police headquarters in Jammu, Choudhary expressed hope that Pakistan would realize the futility of its actions and put an end to its militant activities.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led the ceremony, which was attended by Singh’s family, senior police officials, civil administration officers, and personnel from the Army and CRPF. Abdullah, Choudhary, and the Director General of Police personally extended their condolences to the bereaved family.

Singh was among four policemen who lost their lives in a fierce two-day gunfight with militants in Kathua’s Safiyan forest. Two militants, reportedly linked to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), were also killed in the encounter, which was still ongoing.

Choudhary stressed that neither the central nor J&K governments wanted to see their security personnel martyred but blamed Pakistan-backed elements for continuing their destructive agenda. He said that despite waging militancy for over 30 years, Pakistan had achieved nothing and had only harmed itself.

He also highlighted the unity among J&K’s communities, noting that the slain policemen came from different religious backgrounds but were united in their sacrifice. “Our brotherhood is strong, and no external force can weaken it, no matter how hard they try,” he asserted.
