Minister Seeks One-Year Extension for Special Cells for Women in J&K

 

Srinagar, Mar 24, KNT: Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, has formally requested the National Commission for Women to extend the tenure of Special Cells for Women in Jammu and Kashmir by at least one year.

With the Commission set to discontinue its support for these cells on March 31, thousands of women across the region face uncertainty.

The Minister emphasized the critical role these cells play in assisting women in distress. She further highlighted that, alongside these cells, One Stop Centres continue to provide essential services, including legal aid, counseling, medical assistance, and shelter. [KNT]
