Srinagar, Apr 25, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Friday said that the Amarnath Yatra would continue as planned despite the recent deadly attack in Pahalgam, emphasizing that the pilgrimage is a matter of personal faith and would not be halted by acts of violence.
Choudhary described the yatra as a deeply spiritual event and stated that those who wish to undertake the journey to the Amarnath shrine will do so voluntarily. “This yatra will not be stopped due to the Pahalgam attack. Kashmiris themselves will carry it forward,” he said.
Acknowledging the tragic loss of innocent lives in the attack, Choudhary highlighted the bravery of locals like Adil, a horse owner who died while helping save others. “People like Adil represent the true spirit of Kashmir,” he remarked.

Reaffirming the resilience of the region, the Deputy CM said, “Jammu and Kashmir has a rich cultural legacy, and such cowardly acts will not shake the peace or spirit of the people.”
He assured that the administration and people alike are committed to ensuring the pilgrimage continues safely and peacefully.
