Srinagar, May 23, KNT: The Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday said that the announcement regarding summer vacation in schools will be made at an appropriate time, taking into account the ongoing heatwave across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, the minister urged students and parents to remain patient, stating that the decision on vacations will be based on a careful assessment of weather conditions. “Children will have to wait a bit longer. The summer break will be declared when the time is right,” she said.
In view of rising temperatures, Sakina Itoo confirmed that she has instructed the School Education Department to revise school timings across the region starting Monday. Authorities have already issued multiple advisories warning about the heatwave, prompting the move to adjust academic routines.
The minister also responded to concerns raised by parents about students feeling uneasy during outdoor morning assemblies. “I have directed that morning assemblies should no longer be conducted in the open. Schools must hold them in shaded areas or large indoor halls,” she said. [KNT]
