Security Tightened for Kheer Bhawani Mela, Says IGP Birdi

Srinagar, May 31, KNT: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vidhi Kumar Birdi on Saturday said that all necessary arrangements have been finalized for the upcoming Kheer Bhawani Mela, scheduled to take place on June 3.

Speaking to reporters, IGP Birdi said that devotees from across the Valley are expected to participate in the annual religious gathering. He assured that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with paramilitary forces and traffic personnel, have made comprehensive arrangements to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.

“Our focus is on providing a secure and hassle-free experience for the devotees,” Birdi said, adding that all measures are being taken to maintain safety and convenience for the pilgrims.

Responding to concerns in the wake of the recent Pahalgam attack, the IGP emphasized that the police have consistently carried out security reviews before major religious events, including the Amarnath Yatra.

He noted that strict security protocols were enforced during last year’s Mela and similar precautions will be in place this year to ensure public safety. [KNT]
