Flash Flood Claims Lives of Two Children in Rajouri’s Kalakote, One Child Rescued

Rajouri, June 27, KNT: In a heart-wrenching incident, two children lost their lives and another was rescued after a sudden flash flood swept through the Sialsui area of Kalakote tehsil in Rajouri district early Thursday morning.

According to officials, the tragedy unfolded when the children were caught in a powerful current following intense overnight rainfall that triggered the flash flood. “Three children were swept away. Unfortunately, two of them died on the spot, while the third was rescued by locals and rushed to a nearby medical facility,” an official said.

Local residents, along with police and a rescue team, responded promptly to the incident, managing to save one child and recover the bodies of the other two. The quick intervention of the community played a critical role in preventing further loss.

District authorities expressed condolences to the bereaved families and assured all necessary support, including immediate relief and assistance. “The administration is closely monitoring the situation and prioritising the safety of residents in vulnerable zones,” the official added.
