Jammu Police Foil Intimidation Bid, Rein in Arrogant Accused

Jammu, June 12, KNT: In a dramatic turn of events during an ongoing investigation, three accused persons, currently in police custody, attempted to instill fear among civilians and disrupt the legal process during a field visit to the crime scene in Gangyal area of Jammu.
According to officials, the incident occurred when the accused were being escorted back from court after securing police remand. As police led them to the crime spot for a routine “pointing-out” memo, the trio began hurling threats at local civilians present near the area. They warned people of dire consequences should they cooperate with the police or testify as witnesses.
In an alarming display of arrogance, the accused openly boasted about their alleged gangster affiliations and claimed to have influence in “various circles of the system.” Eyewitnesses said they shouted threats, asserting they would soon be out of custody and would “deal with the public without police presence.”
Not stopping there, the accused also tried to intimidate the police team present on the spot. Sensing the growing disturbance, the police acted swiftly, using necessary force to regain control. Additional reinforcements were immediately called in to defuse the situation.
Thanks to the prompt and coordinated response by Jammu Police (South Zone), the accused were overpowered and safely transported back to the police station, putting an end to their attempted show of dominance.
In a statement, police officials said that the accused’s attempt to project themselves as untouchable figures collapsed in the face of firm law enforcement. “The drama they tried to create has only strengthened our commitment to uphold the rule of law. No one is above the law, and such criminal arrogance has no space in our society,” an officer remarked. [KNT]
