Waheed Para Slams Delay in Cabinet Formation, Labels Omar Govt ‘Bureaucratic Raj 2.0’

Srinagar, June 14, KNT: Peoples Democratic Party leader Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para has voiced strong criticism over the continued delay in cabinet expansion in Jammu and Kashmir, calling out Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for allegedly clinging to centralised power despite receiving a “historic mandate” from the people.

Taking to social media platform X, Para questioned the credibility of Omar Abdullah’s “hybrid government” model, arguing that the people voted to end bureaucratic control, not to repackage it in a democratic shell.

“This isn’t democracy, it’s bureaucratic Raj 2.0, hiding behind a democratic mandate,” Para posted, directly tagging the Chief Minister’s Office. He accused the administration of avoiding a full-fledged cabinet formation, thereby denying the region a more inclusive and representative governance structure.

According to Para, the lack of cabinet ministers highlights the government’s unwillingness to decentralize authority, leaving the public to bear the consequences of unresponsive governance. “With limited access to power, people on the ground are continuing to suffer,” he added. [KNT]
