Pakistan Failed to Disrupt J&K’s Path to Peace and Prosperity, Says Sinha
Srinagar, July 8, KNT: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to the holistic development of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that a new era of peace, stability, and progress is unfolding across the region.
Speaking at an event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, LG Sinha said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a remarkable transformation, especially in the years following the constitutional changes of August 5, 2019.
He lauded the role of security forces in stabilising the situation and creating an atmosphere conducive to growth. “The security grid is strong and well-established, and their contribution has helped J&K transition into a phase of peace and prosperity,” the LG said.

Despite persistent efforts by Pakistan to sow unrest, Sinha said the Union Territory has remained resilient and is thriving. “Jammu and Kashmir is marching ahead. Pakistan tried to destabilise the region, but people here have responded with unity and resolve,” he remarked.
Highlighting the rapid growth in the tourism sector, LG Sinha revealed that over 24 million tourists visited Kashmir by 2024, a number far surpassing the pre-2019 figures. “Tourism is flourishing like never before. Old circuits have been revived, and new avenues such as adventure, spiritual, and border tourism are being actively promoted,” he added.
Sinha said that Jammu and Kashmir’s hosting of the G20 Tourism Working Group meetings gave the region global recognition and boosted international interest in its tourism potential.
He also credited digital integration and technological advancements with enhancing tourist engagement and promoting hassle-free experiences, thanks to support from the Union Ministry of Tourism.
LG Sinha acknowledged the support of the people of Jammu and Kashmir throughout this journey of change. “The resilience shown by the citizens has been extraordinary,” he said, referencing recent peaceful demonstrations following the Pahalgam militant attack, which he described as a “reflection of the people’s rejection of violence.”
He concluded by asserting that the bond between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country remains unbreakable. “Attempts to derail progress have failed. The people are determined to move forward, and that is the real strength of this new Jammu and Kashmir,” the LG affirmed.
