DDC Member Khag Serves Legal Notice Over Defamation Allegations

 

Budgam, July 16, KNT: Molvi Nisar Ahmad, District Development Council (DDC) Member from Khag in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, has issued a legal notice to Jahangir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Khalik Sheikh and a resident of Khag, accusing him of making false, defamatory, and misleading statements regarding the DDC plan and functioning of its elected members.

According to the notice, Jahangir Ahmad Sheikh has been circulating baseless allegations aimed at misrepresenting the developmental work and decisions taken by the DDC. The DDC member has alleged that the statements made by Sheikh were not only factually incorrect but were intentionally designed to mislead the public and cast aspersions on the integrity of the elected representatives.

“These remarks are not only defamatory but a deliberate attempt to confuse the public about the nature of ongoing developmental projects and the role of the DDC,” Molvi Nisar Ahmad said in a statement. “It is an attack on the credibility of the institution and its members, and I have therefore initiated legal proceedings under applicable laws.”

The DDC member clarified that any effort to tarnish the image of public institutions through misinformation will be met with strict legal action. The notice marks a serious escalation in what appears to be an ongoing dispute over the execution and communication of local development plans in the Khag area. [KNT]
