Lt Colonel, Army Jawan Killed After Boulder Hits Army Vehicle in Leh

Leh, Jul 30, KNT: In an incident in the Union Territory of Ladakh, a Lieutenant Colonel and a jawan lost their lives while three other officers sustained injuries when a boulder struck an Army vehicle in the Leh area on Wednesday morning.

According to officials, the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 am when an Army convoy was on the move from Durbuk to Chongtash, an area close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The sudden rockfall led to a massive boulder crashing onto one of the convoy’s vehicles, resulting in the fatal mishap.

“An Army vehicle was hit by a boulder near Durbuk while heading towards Chongtash. In the impact, one Lt Colonel and a jawan were killed on the spot, and three officers sustained injuries,” an Army official confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh. The injured officers include Major Mayank Shubham, Major Amit Dixit, and Captain Gaurav, all of whom were rushed to the Army Hospital in Leh for treatment.

The condition of the injured officers remains stable, according to hospital sources.
