Missing 13-Year-Old Girl Traced Within Two Days by Anantnag Police

Anantnag, July 23, KNT: In a remarkable display of swift action and coordinated policing, Anantnag Police successfully traced and recovered a 13-year-old minor girl who had gone missing from the Dooru area on July 19. The girl was found safe and reunited with her family after an intensive two-day operation that spanned multiple districts.

Police said that after verifying initial details, a formal case under FIR No. 55/2025 was registered at Police Station Dooru under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), dealing with kidnapping of minors. The investigation revealed that the girl had been abducted by a labourer who had been working in the Dooru area for the last three months, installing electric poles.

Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, a dedicated police team was constituted under the direct supervision of SDPO Dooru and SHO Dooru. The team, aided by the District Telecom Team Anantnag, conducted sustained and exhaustive searches in Srinagar, Sopore, and Handwara.

“Using technical surveillance and human intelligence, the accused was traced and apprehended from Handwara on July 22. The girl was found with him and was immediately rescued,” an official said.

Both the accused and the minor were brought back to Dooru the same day, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

The swift recovery of the girl has been widely appreciated by the local population, with many lauding the police for their commitment to child safety and their professional handling of the case.
