Security Forces Recover Grenades, Ammunition in Poonch’s Surankote

Poonch, Jul 5, KNT: Security forces recovered a cache of explosives and ammunition during an anti-militancy operation in the Surankote subdivision of Jammu and Kashmir’s border district of Poonch, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The seizure was made in the Marha area near Behramgala during a cordon and search operation launched following inputs about suspected militant activity in the region.
According to officials, the recovery includes three hand grenades, twenty live rounds, a wire cutter, a knife, several charging cables, and batteries—items often used in militant operations. The seized material has been taken into custody for further investigation.
The operation is part of a series of intensified efforts by security forces to prevent any militant buildup in the sensitive border areas of the Pir Panjal region. Authorities said the search efforts will continue in the surrounding forested stretches to rule out the presence of any militants. [KNT]
