Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Case in Srinagar

 

Srinagar, Aug 28, KNT: A 40-year-old man was killed in an alleged hit-and-run incident near the old bus stand at Batamaloo on Thursday.

Officials said the man, riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01 AD 7021, was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle which fled from the spot immediately after the accident. The victim sustained serious head injuries and was found lying on the road.

A passerby, rushed the injured motorcyclist to SMHS Hospital. However, doctors there declared him brought dead.

The victim was later on identified as Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Nowgam Srinagar.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and a case has been registered. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding auto driver. [KNT]
