“The government is committed to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people in this hour of crisis. Timely disbursal of the announced aid must be ensured so that victims receive relief without delay,” Omar Abdullah said while directing officials to expedite the process.

The cloudburst in Kishtwar earlier this week left dozens dead and many more displaced, with rescue operations still continuing in several affected areas. The calamity has sparked widespread grief, with civil society members and local organisations urging the government to provide not just monetary relief but also long-term rehabilitation support for the devastated communities.
