One Dead, 35 Injured in Bus Accident Carrying Mata Vaishno Devi Pilgrims in Samba

Samba, Aug 21, KNT: A bus carrying pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi met with am accident in Jatla area of Samba district, leaving one person dead and at least thirty-five others injured.

Police said the bus, bearing registration number UP81BT 7688, was carrying devotees from Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh when it skidded off the road. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, while some critically wounded were referred to AIIMS, Jammu for specialized treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Kripal alias Iqbal, son of Harbans, resident of village Rukhalu, Hasanpur, Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh, aged 31 years.

Among the injured are Phool Kumar son of Narine Singh, Om Kala wife of Umesh, Rum Singh son of Harpul Singh, Bala wife of Rum Singh, Kajal daughter of Dal Chan, Rakesh Kumar son of Khema, Pushpa daughter of Khema, Ompal son of Chander Singh, Mavasi son of Birja, Nambir son of Roshan, Jaipal son of Yadram, Sobram son of Yashpaul Singh, Reena wife of Mukesh, Suraj son of Mukesh, Mukesh son of Ramesh, Arti daughter of Sheeshpal, Ramvati wife of Satpal, Rinku son of Satpal, Uadal Singh son of Devi Sahay, Nirmal wife of Rinku, Ashok son of Nathu Singh, Kaushal wife of Ashok, and Dushant Singh son of Rum Singh.

Those referred to AIIMS include Pushpinder son of Ramesh, Bhagwan Saye son of Jai Ram, Khoof Chand son of Rampal, Gajraj son of Harwan Saye, Vijender son of Bhagwan Saye, Rajinder son of Om Prakash (driver) resident of Khurja, Bulandshahr, Poonam wife of Dev Raj, besides others.

All the injured and the deceased hail from Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh.

Authorities said the condition of some of the injured is critical. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway. [KNT]
