Three CRPF Personnel Die, 15 Injured as Vehicle Falls Into Nallah in Udhampur


Udhampur, Aug 7, KNT: Three personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost their lives while 15 others sustained injuries after their vehicle met with an accident in the hilly terrain of Udhampur district on Thursday, officials confirmed.
The mishap occurred around 10:30 in the morning in the Kadwa area when the CRPF team was returning from an operation in the Basant Garh region.
According to officials, the vehicle, which belonged to the 187 Battalion, skidded off the road and plunged into a nallah. It was carrying 23 personnel at the time.
Two CRPF men died on the spot, while 16 others were evacuated to a nearby medical facility. One of the injured later succumbed to his injuries, pushing the death toll to three.

Authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives of CRPF personnel in this accident.
The Lieutenant Governor in a post on X has said: “Saddened by loss of CRPF personnel due to an accident near Udhampur. We will never forget their exemplary service to the nation. My thoughts are with bereaved families. Praying for speedy recovery of injured. Directed senior officials to ensure best possible care and assistance”. [KNT]
