Anantnag locals appreciate police, civil authorities for prompt dewatering operations

Anantnag, Sept 5, KNT: Inhabitants of several localities in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have expressed gratitude to the district police and civil administration for carrying out prompt dewatering operations in flood-hit areas, saying their timely intervention spared people from prolonged suffering.

People from Mehandi Kadal, Ganjiwara, Court Road, Dangarpora, Mattan Chowk and adjoining areas said that water had inundated lanes and residential spaces but was removed within a short span of time. They said  that in the past, waterlogging in these localities used to persist for weeks, crippling daily life, whereas this time dewatering was completed in a day or two.

“This is the first time we saw the administration using men and machinery in full force to dewater the inundated areas so quickly. We are really thankful to them for acting without delay,” said a couple of locals to the news agency Kashmir News Trust.
