Day 16: Search continues in Jhelum for youth who jumped into river at Baramulla

Baramulla, Sep 16, KNT: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) unit of Baramulla, assisted by Civil Defence Uri and Aapda Mitra volunteers, on Tuesday resumed a search operation along the Jhelum river from Uri to Gantamulla to trace the body of a missing youth.

Officials said the missing person has been identified as 29-year-old Feroz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Akbar Bhat of Binner, Baramulla, who reportedly jumped into the river Jhelum on September 1 at Azad Gunj, Baramulla.

Despite extensive efforts since the incident, his body has not yet been recovered. The fresh search drive covers downstream stretches of the river, where teams are combing difficult terrain in an attempt to trace and retrieve the remains.

Authorities confirmed that multiple agencies are working in close coordination and assured that the operation will continue until the missing youth is found.
