Senior IPS Officer AG Mir Likely to Get Posting Soon


Srinagar, Sep 13, KNT: Senior IPS officer Abdul Gani Mir, a 1995-batch officer of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre, is expected to get a posting in Jammu and Kashmir soon, sources said on Saturday.
Mir, who has earlier held several important positions in Jammu and Kashmir, has been repatriated to the J&K segment of the AGMUT cadre after completing his central deputation.
Sources added that official orders regarding his new assignment in Jammu and Kashmir are likely to be issued shortly.
AG Mir is regarded as one of the senior-most officers of his batch and has previously handled sensitive responsibilities in the region. His return is being seen as part of ongoing cadre adjustments in the Union Territory.

AG Mir is among the senior-most officers of his batch and has served in a variety of sensitive positions in Jammu and Kashmir. He has previously worked as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir, and also headed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). During his tenure, he was associated with handling counter-insurgency operations, intelligence gathering, and law-and-order management.
After his central deputation, Mir has now returned to the Union Territory cadre. His repatriation is being viewed as part of the government’s ongoing cadre adjustments and strengthening of the security setup in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
