Traffic halted in Pampore as cracks appear on road, bund, Commuters advised to use highway

Pampore, Sept 5, KNT: Traffic movement came to a complete halt in Pampore town of Pulwama district on Friday after cracks developed on the main road at Drangbal and the adjacent bund. Authorities swiftly placed razor wire on the affected stretch to prevent vehicular movement, terming the situation unsafe for commuters.
Eyewitnesses told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that a portion of the roadside wall showed visible cracks, prompting concern among locals. The district administration immediately closed the road and diverted traffic to the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway.
Officials advised people traveling towards Srinagar from Anantnag or heading south from Srinagar to avoid Pampore town road and instead use the bypass highway.

Authorities said the measure was taken as a precautionary step to avert any untoward incident until the damaged portion is inspected and repaired. [KNT]
