11 Families Rescued from Kulhama as Rising Wular Lake Waters Force Evacuation
Bandipora, Sept 4, KNT: District Administration Bandipora evacuated 11 families from Kulhama village late Thursday evening after rising water levels in Wular Lake triggered a potential flood threat. The families were shifted to Government Higher Secondary School Nadihal, where officials arranged food and basic relief facilities.
Kulhama, a village vulnerable to landslides and other natural hazards, was at immediate risk as the swelling waters of Asia’s second-largest freshwater lake threatened to inundate nearby habitations. Acting promptly, a joint team of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and district authorities reached the spot and carried out the evacuation in a coordinated operation.
