LG Manoj Sinha Pays Homage to Two Soldiers Killed in South Kashmir Operation

 

Srinagar, Oct 11, KNT: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday laid a wreath and paid rich tributes to two soldiers who lost their lives during a snowstorm-hit operation in South Kashmir earlier this week. The slain soldiers have been identified as Lance Havildar Palash Ghosh and Lance Naik Sujay Ghosh.

The solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Army’s 15 Corps in Srinagar, where the Lieutenant Governor, senior Army officers, and officials from the civil administration paid their respects to the fallen soldiers.

According to defence sources, the soldiers were part of a team engaged in an anti-militant operation in the higher reaches of South Kashmir when they were caught in a sudden snowstorm. Despite harsh conditions, rescue teams managed to recover their bodies after an extensive search.

LG Sinha expressed deep grief over the loss of the soldiers, describing them as bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. “Their courage and dedication to protect the nation’s sovereignty will never be forgotten,” the LG said in his message of condolence.

After the wreath-laying ceremony, the mortal remains of both soldiers were sent to their native places in West Bengal, where they will be cremated with full military honours.

The Army reiterated its commitment to continue operations despite challenging weather conditions and reaffirmed support for the families of the deceased soldiers.[KNT]
