Srinagar, Oct 28, KNT: To further accelerate the development and beautification of the world-famous tourist destination Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, the government has approved a Cethroo Fencing project worth around Rs 3.5 crore under the Capex Budget for the financial year 2025–26.
Official sources told Kashmir News Trust that the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) has completed all necessary formalities related to the project. However, the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has yet to issue the tenders required for the project’s execution.
Sources said that any further delay in initiating the work could result in the allocated funds going unutilized due to deteriorating weather conditions and the onset of snowfall, which may hamper the developmental momentum in the area.

In recent months, the Sonamarg Development Authority has undertaken several infrastructure and tourism-oriented projects aimed at enhancing visitor experience and sustainability in the region. These include the upgradation of internal roads, expansion of parking facilities, improvement in solid waste management systems, and installation of tourist-friendly signages and lighting.
