Srinagar, Oct 4, KNT: Srinagar Police attached a three-storey residential house belonging to the family of designated militant Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, also known as Sajad Gul.
Officials said the property, constructed over 15 marlas of land under Survey No. 43 min, Estate Khushipora, and located at Rose Avenue in the HMT area of Srinagar, has been valued at around Rs 2 crore. As per the revenue records and verification from the office of the Tehsildar Central, Shalteng, the property stands registered in the name of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, son of Khawja Anwar Sheikh, who is the father of Sajad Gul.
The attachment, carried out under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), was executed in connection with FIR No. 235/2022 registered at Police Station Parimpora under sections 13, 38, and 20 of the UAPA and sections 2/3 of the EIMCO Act. The operation was conducted in the presence of the concerned Executive Magistrate, as required by law.
Police sources said investigations have revealed that though the property is recorded in the name of the militant’s father, Sajad Gul remains an active stakeholder and beneficiary of the premises. The probe has also established that Gul, through his online presence, was involved in spreading anti-India propaganda, promoting militant narratives, and inciting disaffection against the government through various social media platforms.

Sajad Gul, a designated militant, has been accused of facilitating militant activities and coordinating with handlers across the border. His name figures in multiple cases related to anti-national propaganda and militant financing, police sources said.
Srinagar police said that the latest attachment is part of a sustained campaign aimed at dismantling the financial, logistical, and operational structures that support militancy in Kashmir. “The action against militancy-linked properties is intended to strike at the very roots of the ecosystem that sustains militancy. Anyone found aiding, abetting, or benefiting from such activities will face legal consequences.” [KNT]
