Youth Injured in Bear Attack in South Kashmir’s Tral

Tral, Oct 14, KNT: A youth was injured after being attacked by a bear in the Takiya Gulab Bagh area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

Officials said the victim, identified as Yasir Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Hamid Mir, was attacked while he was in the vicinity of his home. He sustained multiple injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Doctors said his condition is stable, and he is under medical supervision. Meanwhile, locals have urged the Wildlife Department to intensify patrols and set up traps in the area, citing increasing incidents of wild animal movement near human habitations.

Locals said wild bears have been frequently sighted in the orchards and forest fringes of Tral, creating panic among villagers. [KNT]
