DC, SSP Budgam Join Thousands for Last Rites of Naib Tehsildar Killed in Nowgam Blast

Budgam, Nov 15, KNT: Deputy Commissioner Budgam Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat and SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar on Saturday joined the funeral prayers of Naib Tehsildar Muzaffer Ahmad Khan, who died in the accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station late Friday night. The senior officers reached Soibugh, the native village of the deceased, to stand with the family as thousands of mourners gathered for the final rites.

Officials said Khan was part of the official team on duty when the blast occurred during the handling of seized explosive material. His sudden death has triggered widespread grief across Budgam, where locals described him as a sincere officer known for his humble conduct and dedication to public service.

The district administration expressed profound sorrow over the loss. DC Budgam Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat said the administration “stands in complete solidarity with the bereaved family” and assured them of every possible support in this hour of grief.

SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar also offered condolences, calling the incident a tragic loss for the district administration and the revenue department.

The funeral procession passed through Soibugh amid sombre scenes, with villagers and colleagues accompanying the body to the ancestral graveyard. Emotional prayers were offered as the officer was laid to rest.
