Govt assures Cath Lab, CT scan services to go operational in Ganderbal Hospital

Ganderbal, Nov 19, KNT: Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Ganderbal, Dr Farah Shafi Wednesday said that on the directions of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the health minister Sakina Itoo approved the establishment of Cath Lab in the hospital.
Dr Farah Shafi said that she placed several key demands before the government to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the district, including the establishment of a Cath Lab and dedicated accommodation for PG students and doctors’ families. The Chief Minister directed Health Minister Sakina Itoo to approve the proposals on the spot.
She said the Health Minister approved the Cath Lab request during the event, clearing the way for the facility to be set up at the hospital. Dr Farah Shafi said the decision is expected to significantly ease the burden on locals who previously had to travel outside the district for cardiac interventions.
Dr Shafi also sought hostel facilities for postgraduate students and accommodation for doctors’ families. The Health Minister approved the proposal, which involves an estimated expenditure of around Rs 70 crore. She said that graduates from across India are posted at the hospital, and the project will improve both working and living conditions for medical staff.
