Srinagar, Nov 19, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar, naming six accused persons in a case involving alleged tampering of official records submitted before the Central Administrative Tribunal.
Officials said the case originated from a communication forwarded by the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer, flagging suspected manipulation of documents placed before CAT Srinagar in TA No. 4100/2021. Following the complaint, a formal case was registered and investigation was initiated by the agency.
Investigators found that the records submitted before the tribunal had been unlawfully altered while in its custody. The probe established that the prime accused, Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan of Sopore, in criminal conspiracy with CAT employee Anoop Mishra and other beneficiary employees, made unauthorised insertions in the documents related to their regularisation in the Horticulture Department.
Crime Branch officials said at least twelve official seals belonging to multiple government departments and institutions including the Directorate of Horticulture, Block Development Office, Tehsildar offices, ZEO offices, and various schools were recovered from the residence of Pathan Majid Khan during searches.
The investigation further relied on Call Detail Records and WhatsApp exchanges retrieved from the seized phone of Pathan Majid Khan, which, according to officials, corroborated the conspiracy and the alleged criminal breach of trust by CAT employee Anoop Mishra.
The chargesheet, filed under Sections 209, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, names Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Mudasir Yousuf Wani, Ghulam Mohammad Reshi, Bashir Ahmad Dar and Anoop Mishra as the accused.
Officials said the chargesheet has been submitted for judicial determination. [KNT]
