Home Department Places Former SDPO Gandhi Nagar Under Suspension

Jammu, Nov 14, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has ordered the suspension of DySP Sunil Singh, PID No. ARP983409, who previously served as SDPO Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The order was issued on November 13 by the Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, following procedural action initiated under Rule 31(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.

According to the order, the suspension has been enforced with immediate effect in view of a pending inquiry in the matter concerning the officer. The Home Department noted that the action falls within the statutory framework governing service conduct and disciplinary proceedings in the Union Territory.

During the suspension period, the officer has been directed to remain attached with the Police Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said this attachment is a standard measure to facilitate the smooth conduct of the inquiry and ensure administrative oversight while disciplinary proceedings move forward.

The suspension order has been circulated to the Director General of Police, the Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, the Chief Secretary’s office, and other relevant authorities for necessary compliance. A copy has also been forwarded to the Joint Secretary (JKL) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Sources in the Home Department said the inquiry process will proceed as per established rules and that the final outcome will depend on the findings submitted by the concerned authorities. They added that disciplinary action of this nature is part of routine administrative accountability mechanisms aimed at ensuring transparency and institutional discipline within the police force.
