J&K Police Busts Inter-State Militant Module Linked to JeM and AGuH

Srinagar, Nov 10, : In a major counter-militancy operation, Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled an inter-state and transnational militant module linked to the proscribed outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). The operation, described by officials as a significant breakthrough, led to the arrest of several key operatives, the recovery of arms and explosives, and the exposure of a sophisticated white-collar network operating across multiple states.
According to police, the investigation began after multiple JeM posters were found pasted at various locations in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar, on October 19, 2025, containing threats and messages aimed at intimidating police and security forces. Acting swiftly, police registered FIR No. 162/2025 at Police Station Nowgam under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act.
The investigation revealed an organized network comprising radicalized professionals and students allegedly in contact with handlers based in Pakistan and other countries. The group had been using encrypted digital platforms for indoctrination, coordination, fund transfers, and logistics. Funds were reportedly raised through professional and academic networks under the guise of social and charitable activities to finance militant operations and recruitment.
During the operation, police arrested seven individuals identified as Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, all residents of Nowgam Srinagar; Molvi Irfan Ahmad, an Imam from Shopian; Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlasha from Wakura Ganderbal; Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie alias Musaib from Koil Pulwama; and Dr. Adeel from Wanpora Kulgam. Officials said these individuals were actively involved in identifying and radicalizing youth, raising funds, arranging logistics, procuring arms and ammunition, and fabricating Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The investigation led to the recovery of a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and incriminating material, including a Chinese Star pistol, a Beretta pistol, an AK-56 rifle, an AK Krinkov rifle, and around 2,900 kilograms of IED-making material consisting of explosives, chemicals, inflammable substances, electronic circuits, batteries, and metal fragments. Police also seized electronic devices and documents related to the network’s operations.
Simultaneous searches were conducted in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, and Shopian, and in coordination with Haryana Police in Faridabad and UP Police in Saharanpur to trace the network’s financial and logistical links. The financial investigation regarding the flow of funds is ongoing, and authorities are tracking additional suspects connected to the group.
Police described the operation as a major blow to militant networks attempting to rebuild their infrastructure in the region. Officials said the bust highlights the evolving face of militancy in Kashmir, which increasingly relies on professional and digital ecosystems for recruitment and funding.
J&K Police reaffirmed their commitment to intensify operations against militant groups and dismantle their support structures to ensure lasting peace and security in the Union Territory.
