Pedestrian killed after being hit by car in Awantipora

 

Awantipora, Oct 23, KNT: A pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a speeding car in Charsoo area of Awantipora on Thursday morning. The accident occurred near the petrol pump along the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, causing panic among locals.

Police said a Swift car bearing registration number JK02DN-2960 struck a pedestrian identified as Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, also known locally as Gul Matoo, son of Wali Mohammad, a resident of Charsoo Awantipora. The impact left him critically injured.

He was immediately rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Awantipora for treatment, but doctors there declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, police reached the spot and seized the vehicle involved in the accident. The driver, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, is being questioned as part of the investigation.

A police official confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident. [KNT]
