NC’s Aga Mahmood Trails by Over 1,000 Votes After Fourth Round

Budgam, Nov 14, KNT: PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi has widened his lead in the Budgam Assembly by-election as counting reached the fourth of seventeen rounds on Friday.
According to figures available from the counting centre, Aga Muntazir has secured 5,117 votes so far, placing him 1,091 votes ahead of his nearest rival, NC candidate Aga Syed Mahmood Al Mosavi, who has polled 4,026 votes.
Independent candidate Nazir Ahmad Khan follows with 1,407 votes, while several others, including Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din, Dr Mohd Maqbool Bhat, Mohd Sameer Bhat and Aga Syed Mohsin Mosvi of the BJP, are trailing by sizeable margins.

Independent candidate Jibran Dar has polled 1,228 votes, and other candidates, including Aditi Sharma, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Shabir Ahmad Ganie and Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, remain much further behind. NOTA has recorded 156 votes.
Officials said counting is underway and the gap between the leading contenders may shift as more rounds are completed. [KNT]
