Police Launch Inspection Drive to Prevent Misuse of Vehicles, Car Dealers Checked Across Pulwama District; Records and Verification Scrutinised

Awantipora, Nov 14, KNT: In a move aimed at preventing the possible misuse of vehicles for unlawful activities, Awantipora Police has launched a district-wide inspection and verification drive involving all car dealers operating within its jurisdiction.
SDPOs and SHOs conducted visits to automobile dealerships across their respective areas, where they examined records related to the sale and purchase of vehicles. Officers also scrutinised cases in which multiple vehicles had been purchased by a single individual, focusing on proper verification and documentation.
During the checks, car dealers were instructed to maintain complete transaction records, including Aadhaar details, phone numbers and contact information of both buyers and sellers. Police said this level of documentation is crucial for ensuring transparency and accountability in motor vehicle dealings.

Officials said the exercise is intended to strengthen surveillance mechanisms and ensure that vehicles are not diverted or misused for illegal or anti-social activities.
SSP Awantipora said such preventive measures are necessary to stop vehicles from being exploited by anti-social or anti-national elements. He added that public cooperation and vigilance by vehicle dealers are vital in maintaining stability and law and order in the region.
