Two days after Rezan area of Central Kashmir’s Kangan area was hit by a landslide leaving over two dozen animals dead and over a dozen residential houses damaged, senior National Conference leader and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Dr Farooq Abdullah Tuesday said that locals had asked authorities three months ago to stop blasting on Z-Morh tunnel, but still the construction work went on and the results are in front of everyone.

Farooq Abdullah visited the affected families in Rezan village and expressed solidarity with them.

After his interaction with the locals, Farooq Abdullah told reporters that people had informed the authorities that they are in danger due to the continuous blasting but the authorities didn’t budge and ignored the warning from the locals. “What people had warned about happened on the ground,” he said.

Farooq Abdullah appealed to the government to relocate the affected families and the people living in the area. “They (inhabitants) can’t live here due to the risk involved here. I appeal to the government to relocate these families to safer families,” he said.

Farooq Abdullah as per news agency Kashmir News Trust said that victims should be compensated without any delay. (KNT)
