SIA conducts raid on media office in Jammu over charges of spreading disaffection

Jammu, Nov 20, KNT: The State Investigation Agency on Thursday carried out a raid at the office of a Jammu-based daily newspaper as part of an ongoing probe into alleged anti national activities. Officials said the action followed inputs indicating that the publication and its editorial leadership were involved in content that could spread disaffection and pose concerns for national sovereignty.
According to officials, an FIR has been registered naming the editor of the daily, in connection with the investigation. The agency is examining her alleged links as well as material believed to have been disseminated through the outlet. Police sources said the investigation seeks to determine whether the activities under scrutiny have the potential to undermine the country’s sovereignty.
Notably, the daily has not been in physical circulation for the last couple of years after its Srinagar office was closed by authorities. However, it continues to remain active on digital platforms, where the agency is assessing published content and related communication.
The raid was conducted to secure documents, digital records and material relevant to the case. Officials said further examination is underway and additional action will be taken based on the findings.
