Investigations conducted by the Economic Offences Wing revealed that the complainant supplied cows and sheep worth several lakhs of rupees. Initial partial payments were reportedly made to build trust. However, the accused later issued multiple cheques amounting to ₹30 lakh, all of which were dishonoured due to insufficient funds.
Despite repeated assurances, the remaining payment was never cleared, resulting in significant financial loss to the complainant. The probe further established that the accused allegedly followed a calculated modus operandi by executing misleading agreements and issuing fake and dishonoured cheques while falsely projecting the transaction as part of a government welfare scheme.
Officials said the evidence collected during the investigation establishes offences under the relevant RPC sections against the accused. The chargesheet has now been presented before the competent court for judicial determination. [KNT]
