Kulgam Police act against stunt biking, parents of minors booked
Kulgam, Dec 4, KNT: Kulgam Police on Thursday said they have taken prompt action after a video showing stunt biking and eve-teasing by a group of juvenile boys went viral on social media, triggering public concern and calls for intervention.
Officials said Police Station Qaimoo identified the minors involved in the incident and seized the motorcycles used by them. The juveniles were subsequently counselled in the presence of their families and warned against repeating such behaviour, which the police said endangered both their own lives and the safety of others.
The police further stated that parents of the minors were booked under relevant legal provisions and were formally bound down for permitting underage driving and for allowing activities that posed risks to public order and safety.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anayat Ali Chowdhary said parents bear a critical responsibility in preventing children from engaging in unlawful and dangerous conduct.

“Parents must understand that no minor should ever be handed a motorcycle or any other vehicle. When such behaviour is allowed, it puts the child’s life at risk and also endangers the lives of other citizens. Stunt riding and eve-teasing will not be tolerated and strict action will follow against violations,” he said.
The SSP also underscored that Kulgam Police will continue to act firmly against rash driving, stunt biking and harassment in public spaces and urged the people to cooperate in fostering discipline, safety and respect, particularly in relation to women and students.
Police officials said the drive forms part of a wider effort to curb unsafe road behaviour and maintain public order across the district. [KNT]
