Srinagar, Dec 28, KNT: The Open Merit Students Association on Sunday expressed gratitude to senior political leaders for their intervention that led to the release of detained student leaders in Srinagar.
According to the association, its president, Sahil Parray and Mir Mujeeb, along with other students, were released by Sunday evening. One of the members of the Association, Dr Muhammad Moomin Khan confirmed that the matter was taken up with the office of Rahul Gandhi, following which efforts were made to secure the release of the students.
OMSA thanked Rahul Gandhi and Member of Parliament Ruhullah Mehdi, along with others, for what it described as urgent intervention in the matter, saying their efforts helped ensure the freedom of Open Merit student leaders.

The association also appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to release the reservation-related report at the earliest to bring clarity and transparency to the issue.

The students’ body reiterated its demand for fair consideration of Open Merit concerns and said timely disclosure of the report would help ease uncertainty among aspirants. [KNT]
