Srinagar, Dec 3, KNT: The Open Merit Students Association of Jammu and Kashmir has rejected any “cosmetic” reduction in reservation and demanded immediate public release of the reservation sub-committee report before any official approval.
In a statement, OMSA leaders Sahil Parray, Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, Tafazul Bilal and Subina Mehraj said token cuts in one or two categories would not be accepted and warned that incomplete reforms would be opposed.
The student body said forwarding the report to the Lieutenant Governor without disclosing it to the public amounted to evasion rather than transparency. They asked the government to publish the document immediately if it was confident about the fairness of its recommendations.
OMSA further pressed for divisional-wise reservation, calling it the most balanced structural reform to address regional imbalance. The group questioned why this option was not pursued and demanded clarity from the authorities.

The association said the reservation policy must be rationalised fairly and transparently, or else students would intensify their agitation. [KNT]
