Police, CRPF deploy surveillance teams on highways, key routes


Budgam, Dec 27, KNT: Seecurity arrangements have been intensified across the district Budgam ahead of the New Year celebrations to ensure a peaceful and incident-free atmosphere.
Police officials said that on the directions of SSP Budgam, senior officers including SDPO Magam and SHO Magam, along with CRPF Company Commanders and Assistant Commandants, remained on the ground to personally supervise and monitor the security arrangements in sensitive areas.
Specialised teams have been deployed using modern surveillance equipment, including sniffer dogs, Door Frame Metal Detectors and Hand Held Metal Detectors, to thoroughly check roads and detect any suspicious objects. Physical checking of suspicious persons and vehicles is also being carried out, particularly along the Narbal–Tangmarg highway falling under the Magam jurisdiction.
Officials said the heightened security measures are aimed at preventing any untoward incident and ensuring that New Year celebrations pass off peacefully across the district.

Police have appealed to locals to cooperate with security personnel during checking and movement restrictions, if any, in the larger interest of public safety. [KNT]
