Srinagar, Dec 30, KNT: Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Paul Singh on Tuesday said that the Traffic Police will continue its enforcement and public awareness campaign with undiminished commitment in 2026, reiterating that the primary objective of traffic policing is the protection of human life and reduction of road accidents.
Speaking to media persons, the SSP said that the deployment of traffic personnel across rural Kashmir is focused on ensuring strict adherence to traffic laws and initiating action against violators strictly in accordance with legal provisions. He said the mission launched during 2025 has yielded encouraging results and will be pursued with the same seriousness in the coming year.
The SSP noted that public awareness regarding traffic rules has shown a marked improvement, with people increasingly cooperating with enforcement agencies and adopting safer road behaviour. He said this growing sense of responsibility among road users is a positive sign for overall traffic discipline in the region.
He further said that the department plans to expand its awareness initiatives by conducting pledge drives in schools, colleges, sumo stands, and other public spaces. NCC cadets and other stakeholders will also be actively involved, along with regular consultations and strengthening of traffic infrastructure wherever required, to minimise the risk of road mishaps.
