Traffic Advisory: Anti Skid Chains Made Mandatory on Tangmarg Gulmarg Road


Gulmarg, Dec 30, KNT: The Sub Divisional Magistrate Gulmarg has issued a traffic advisory regulating the movement of vehicles on the Tangmarg Gulmarg road in view of the forecast of snowfall in the area, which is likely to render the road slippery and unsafe for vehicular movement.

According to the advisory, all vehicles operating on the Tangmarg Gulmarg stretch have been directed to compulsorily use anti skid chains during snowfall and icy conditions. The order further imposes a complete ban on the movement of heavy vehicles on the said road until further orders.

The directive states that the measures have been taken in the interest of public safety and to ensure smooth regulation of traffic amid prevailing and expected adverse weather conditions. Authorities noted that snowfall in the Tangmarg Gulmarg area could significantly affect road conditions, increasing the risk of accidents if precautionary steps are not followed.

The order has been issued under the powers vested in the Sub Divisional Magistrate and any violation of the directions will be dealt with strictly in accordance with law. The SDPO Tangmarg and the Tehsildar Tangmarg have been instructed to enforce the order in letter and spirit and to take all necessary measures for effective traffic management and maintenance of law and order.

The advisory will remain in force until further orders, subject to improvement in weather conditions and road status. Locals and tourists have been advised to adhere strictly to the instructions and avoid unnecessary travel during snowfall.

The general public has also been informed that designated officials will remain available at Tangmarg and Gulmarg on specified dates to provide assistance and facilitate traffic regulation during the period of adverse weather. [KNT]
