

Jammu, Jan 21, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has delegated Drawing and Disbursing Officer powers to officers for 37 headless educational institutions across the Jammu Division, pending regular arrangements.
According to Government Order No. 35-JK (Edu) of 2026 dated January 20, 2026, the delegation has been made in respect of various educational institutions and offices that are presently without regular heads. The order has been issued following a reference from the Director School Education Jammu.
As per the order, DDO powers have been assigned to designated principals, headmasters and zonal education officers, as detailed in Annexure “A” attached to the government directive. The delegation is aimed at ensuring smooth financial functioning and administrative continuity in the affected institutions until permanent arrangements are put in place by the department.
The order further directs that the delegated powers must be exercised strictly in accordance with the rules in force and government instructions issued from time to time. The concerned officers have also been instructed to maintain requisite records as prescribed under the General Financial Rules, 2017.

Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Director School Education Jammu, treasury officers and other concerned authorities for information and compliance. The School Education Department has also made the order available on its official website.
The move is expected to address administrative bottlenecks in headless schools and ensure uninterrupted functioning of educational institutions across the Jammu Division. [KNT]
