Srinagar, Jan 22, KNT: Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday raised serious concern over what she described as prolonged inaction by the Paramedical Council at Government Medical College Srinagar, alleging that thousands of trained paramedical and allied health graduates have been left in limbo for years due to stalled registrations.
In a post on social media, Mehbooba Mufti said that more than 12,000 qualified paramedical and allied health graduates are unable to apply for jobs as the mandatory registration process has remained suspended. She said the online registration portal has been defunct, resulting in applicants being excluded even when vacancies are advertised.
The PDP chief said the continued delay has created uncertainty for trained youth who have completed their professional courses but are unable to enter the workforce. She termed the situation a serious administrative failure that is directly impacting employment prospects in the health sector.
Mehbooba Mufti said the indifference of the authorities is jeopardising the future of thousands of skilled youth who are otherwise eligible to serve in hospitals and healthcare institutions. She stressed that paramedical professionals form a critical backbone of the healthcare system and should not be sidelined due to procedural lapses.

She urged the government to intervene immediately and expedite the registration process, calling for urgent restoration of the online portal and clearance of pending cases. She said delays in registrations not only affect individuals but also weaken healthcare delivery by keeping trained manpower out of service.
The PDP president said the issue has persisted for years without resolution and called on the administration to take responsibility and ensure that qualified candidates are not deprived of employment opportunities due to bureaucratic apathy. [KNT]
